National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources which is popularly known as NAEIR was founded by Norbert Smith in the year 1977. This charitable organization plays the role of a bridge between the corporate houses and the non-profit organizations in the United States. The organization has a rich history attached with it.

Mr. Smith was unhappy with the tradition of corporate houses keeping unused and excess inventory in their warehouses. This inventory would lie there for months without being utilized. He saw this as an opportunity to utilize these products for the benefit of non-profit organizations and qualified schools. The corporate houses would also benefit through tax rebates that they would receive on donating the items to the organizations. This led to formation of National Association for Exchange of Industrial Resources.

NAEIR has evolved as a respectable organization over a period of time. It has managed the feat of redistributing goods worth over $2 billion. NAEIR has effectively channeled goods like computer software, classroom materials, office supplies or personal care products to needy non-profit organizations, churches and schools.
